In a technology-dominated field, my analog tools are essential for bringing emotion and storytelling into my work. Urban sketching (sketching people and places live on site, not from a photograph) hones my observational skills and helps me embrace imperfection. Now, I use sketching as a form of note-taking at conferences and meditation.
My AirPods Max are my go-to for staying focused and getting into the zone.
Jigaro Kano’s “maximum efficiency, minimal effort” principle applies to more than just judo—it’s a life philosophy. I started judo late in life and got hooked on grappling (especially the high throws, trips, and sweeps). Now, I mix in some jiu-jitsu for variety, and with the gym just 4 minutes from the office, there’s no excuse not to train.
These pieces tell stories from the past, and I’m fascinated by how fashion and art evolve over time.
It’s tattered, it’s torn, but this small backpack has traveled all over the country and world with me –from jungles to cityscapes –carrying my sketchbook and pens everywhere I go.
Practical and ready for adventure.
I always have a hot drink in hand, whether it’s tea, coffee, or (slightly scalding) lemon water. You name it.
Big Betsey Johnson fan – she’s unapologetically bold, and these glasses keep the sun out of my eyes.
Really fought this at first, but it’s been great tracking my steps and health in general. After all, you can’t manage what you don’t measure.
I’m never without a pen and paper to jot down names, notes, and ideas at tradeshows. Ever.
A tiny Ballet Pensacola pin is attached to my backpack, reminding me to move through life with grace, artistry, and strength. Ballet is one of the most challenging disciplines, and dance and movement are a huge part of my life. I start every morning with an arabesque while brushing my teeth—it’s a quirky way to stretch, but it works!
